NVidia GeFore GTX970 Support

Hi,

Could someone please confirm that the Oculus will or will not work with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M with 3GB GDDR5, I have tried several times but have been unable to get this working, but before I rest the laptop and install just the application and driver I would like to know for sure this will work.

Thansk

  • It seems laptops are not working with 0.7. Well laptops were never working well, but now they don't seem to work at all. It's highly recommended to use a desktop for VR.
  • I can understand that a desktop should be used for a presentation but for a quick sample/demo surely a laptop should suffice?

  • The problem is that many laptops just won't work at all in VR. Systems with Optimus (or switchable graphics) have compatibility issues and mostly just don't work. Even ones without Optimus can have problems on Windows 10. It's not just about slow performance (though that is a problem too). Many times it just won't work. Sorry.
  • Many thanks for your reply, would the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 with 2GB GDDR5 suitable for the Oculus DK2 and Consumer version?

    Regards
  • You'll need a GTX 970 for the best experience on the consumer Rift. The 960 may technically function, but you run a risk of getting slower performance or a worse experience.

I can confirm that my DK2 works on a MacBook Pro (GT 750 M and Intel) on Windows 10 with 0.7 using driver 355.84. Of course it's not fast, but at least works.
  • Glaze,

    Are you using parallels desktop?

    Regards,

    No, I'm using Boot Camp.
