Oculus Debug Tool can't connect to service / HMD
When I try to run the Oculus Debug Tool, I just get an error message that says:
Unable to connect to service, or an HMD isn't connected.
What am I doing wrong? An HMD (CV1) is connected, and Home is running.

- JKoskiHonored GuestSame problem even after upgrading to SDK 1.11 and reinstalling Oculus app on Win 10, 64 bit.
Same "Unable to connect to service, or an HMD isn't connected" message.
Certainly agree with ParadigmAU... ("To be honest I don't know why the debug tool hasn't been integrated into the Oculus home settings yet. Its clearly clunky having to run and set the tool every time you use the Rift") - JexinHonored GuestSame issue, just got my Rift recently and debugger tool helps to make the graphics much better. However, I had to research how to set it up and use it and it is a bit odd that it is not included with the software. Looking forward to support with this issue. Thank you.
- wrenthHonored GuestThe same problem. Gosh... people could you finally add those settigns to the Oculus Home app!!!!
- deHavillandMHCP MemberI think most users that have posted in this thread use the debug tool exclusively for the oversampling function (like e.g. me). Therefore our proposal is not to include the (whole) Debug Tool into the runtime, but rather to split the oversampling function out of it and integrate THAT into the runtime. Users can change or reset the oversampling value at any time, but the value would be persistent thru restarts.
- thoiterProtegeI'm having the same issue. All was working yesterday and now "Unable to connect to service..." error.
I agree it's beyond ridiculous that we have to run this tool and enter a value prior to running any Oculus programs. It should have been integrated long ago, what are these developers doing all day? - SpicyAftermathExplorersame issue here. i use the debug tool for most games on the rift.
- AnonymousNot applicablesame.
- freekHonored GuestSame. Oculus App 1.13.0.362051, run as non-admin and admin. Tried Debug Tool from SDK 1.11 and 1.12, both as non-admin and admin, run before and after launching Oculus App. I always get the message: "Unable to connect to service, or an HMD isn't connected".
- INkabodpainProtegeMe too !
- josefmdHonored GuestYep....Me as well. Being using the Debug tool for weeks, and after a restart I am getting the same error.....So what has changed??? Was there a firmware update?? I was using a older SDK version 1.11?? I think. Dated from back in Feb... I tried the newer versions, and still no luck....
