Oculus-friendly desktop wallpaper?

Hello,

I have a DK2 up and running on an iMac running Mavericks 10.9.4. My desktop is currently using the default desktop wallpaper (large blue/green wave). This can be very disorienting when I first put on the rift since my eyes try to sync up the two eyes.

I want to replace my desktop wallpaper with something more "rift-friendly". Anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you,

-b

  • You should just be able to save a screenshot of a Rift game and then use that as the wallpaper.

Thank you again. Attached is what I created for now. Very interesting to see it both in and out of the Rift.

Edit: added jpg with smaller file size.

I think it's better to just have the background black on the Rift to avoid burn-in.

This will burn-in that tree to your screen, specially if you forget to turn the Rift off for a long period of time.

Heh, funny I noticed that the OSX screensaver kicks on just like any other display after a couple of minutes. In general that is a good point though. Even screensavers can burn in over time.

I am unplugging the hdmi to the device when its not in use. I don't know what a practical lifespan for a display like this is, and I don't want to be the one that finds out the hard way. I already can't avoid looking at the three dead pixels on the screen. :-\
