Oculus Rift DK1 and DK2 Spectra

Not really exactly a development question but I didn't know where to put that.

Would someone with access to a spectrophotometer happen to have the spd for the respective screens of the kits? Oculus / Facebook maybe?

Cheers,

KS

Here is the spectrum of the DK2 showing the brightest white it can in 60Hz full-persistence mode. I hope this helps.
I used the "Project STAR Spectrometer". I looked into it with my iPhone 4S. For getting more definition into the very dim scene I took the photo with the app "Average Camera Pro".
  • Hello!

Cheers for that! Unfortunately, the spectrum taken from a spectroscope will be quite dependant on the filter assembly front of the CMOS / CCD (Which usually has strong IR cut). I actually have a home built high resolution spectroscope and the 5d Mark II is for instance trimming quite a bit of the ultraviolet range and a fair bunch of the solar / sky spectrum. That's why I'm interested by a spectrophotometer!

I didn't know about the Project STAR Spectrometer, I'll take a look at that, thanks! :)

I also thought about that, but I can ensure you that the direct view into spectrometer with my eyes looks pretty much the same. But, of course, if you need precise numbers, this picture won't help you.
  • Excelent find Dan! Most seaches I did were yielding results for the LG Spectrum... I'll try to contact the guy from the website you linked!
