Oculus Rift is doing its own controller to VR?
Oculus Rift is doing its own control to VR as this article describes?
http://www.cnet.com/news/oculus-to-ge-hands-on-with-new-virtual-reality-gear/
if this is true and use the camera is amazing, the oculus rift really need a control, Sixense Stem (razer hydra wireless) could be good, but it will be expensive, something using the camera rift will become the cheapest control
Gloves can also be done!
The Oculus VR could use the same motion sensors and infrared light that the camera captures in controls and gloves, and use the camera to find the position of the body!

- mptpExplorerThis article doesn't seem to mention its source, but many people (myself included) are all but certain that Oculus will be releasing its own controller. If you were to ask me, they'll be announcing it at Oculus Connect.
Iribe has mentioned that gloves aren't feasible just yet, so whatever Oculus is releasing in terms of controllers anytime soon won't be a data glove. I was hoping it would be, but it won't be. :(
And yeah, I agree - I suspect Oculus will be using a fusion of the sensor data that an IMU will give them with some form of tracking integration with the DK2 camera. This will have the convenient side-effect of meaning that people will require a Rift to use their input device. ;)
I'm seriously looking forward to any announcement from Oculus regarding an input device - I've been holding off buying a STEM system or Control VR or Neuron or whatever because I just don't see much point in developing anything for them when realistically that means limiting my target audience to fewer than 5000-or-so people worldwide.
But if Oculus were to release an official motion controller, that would be a whole different story... :D - N1Honored Guest

I saw that you were interested in data gloves, I have just posted our progress in making more affordable data gloves, it uses a mechanical exoskeleton approach instead of using IMU or bend-sensors

I hope you like it;) - mhenriquecdHonored GuestI believe the Oculus Rift needs a controller, and using the capture of infrared light by the camera that is present in the DK2 to make a cheap good.
gloves are also possible, all within the same SDK would be perfect
The Stem Sixense control is good, however will be expensive
