Oculus Rift/VR Skype Developer Group Chat

I've made a skype group for Rift developers, add me ( zer0bounds ) for an invite to the group.

  • There's got to be some dedicated mumble/TS server around. A skype group sounds kinda klunky (but what do I know, I haven't used them).

The last voice chat group I got involved in evolved in to a VR forum, which you can find here: http://devresource.org/

The Skype Group isn't bad, its invite only and is essentially a chatroom. It's easy to connect to other devs and talk about stuff realtime rather than use forums. If you wanted to voice chat with someone(s) then its right there. Its convenient to idle in, and most people have it installed already.

Perhaps its not ideal? If so, no big deal we can find another means of group chat. I've used Skype for this sort of thing and still do and I think it suits things fine aside from a few minor complaints. The request for something along these lines has been asked a few times so I just want to get the ball rolling, if the Skype group sticks, great. If not, next thing.

I really think it is more fun with a TS or mumble type system, I have used both and it tends to just be more active and easily accessible for people. We can also set up rooms on a TS server for different teams/demos/developer groups. Cultivating a community of creatives.
  • For those who remember, should I resurrect Chox for Oculus alone? Was considering it...

wildermuthn: are you the chox dev? Chox was fun, and it was cool because it was browser based and had a responsive layout.

Our Skype group is going okay I think, but I think voice chat would be nice sometimes too.
