OR DK2 -- Config demo scene works - Tuscany doesn't - HELP!

Hi all,

Am new to the OR, so forgive any silly questions.
I have the rift all set up and connected to a 2014 Mac Pro running Windows 8.1. I have a dual monitor setup.
I can successfully run the "Show Demo Scene" in the config utility in either Extended Desktop mode or Direct to Rift mode.

However, the Tuscany demo is another matter entirely.

If I select Direct to Rift and run the "direct to rift" version of the Tuscany Demo, nothing happens. I presume the program has aborted as it doesn't show up in Task Manager either. I have tried disabling my second monitor to no avail.

If I select extended mode, landscape (flipped), and run the regular tuscany demo, it appears - but never on RIFT, always on the primary display. Bizarrely, even though I am now in extended desktop mode, if I run the "direct to rift" Tuscany demo, it actually displays. Pressing spacebar, the demo tells me its running at 2364 x 1461 (is that normal?).

What on earth is going on? All I want to do is get it all working in direct To Rift mode!

For additional info, I am running ATI Firepro graphics cards in the machine.

  • My solution was to open up task manager and kill the Oculus Configuration Utility. Even though it wasn't "open"
anywhere, it kept taking oculus focus from any other app.

Thanks....didn't do it for me I'm afraid. Same symptoms as before.

  • Can you try making a shortcut to the game exe file and adding this to the target command line:

    -force-d3d11

Thanks - I'll try that and report back. Is this to be used in Extended Display Mode or in direct mode?

  • I'm having the same Issue. Configuration Demo and World Demo work. Nothing else does. When I turn on Tuscany, the tracking works, however the display doesn't turn on. (Stays Orange). This has been the case with any other demo I've tried.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks

    Hi,

This worked for me on Tuscany Demo in Direct to Rift mode! THANK YOU.
Unfortunately, most other games and demos suffer the same issue...and this flag doesn't work with them. Must be some issue related to multi-monitors and/or ATI cards and/or both.

    Grrr....
