Polycode, a cross platform open source engine

http://polycode.org/features/

Looks very interesting, i asked the developer about the Rift and he said that he supports it when he gets his hands on it.
Polycode is not dedicated only to games, it's somehow a mixture between game engines and creative frameworks like Processing and OpenFrameworks.

Technically it seems to be very thought out, fast LuaJIT scripting, modular C++ plugin architecture and cross platform. Could be a very nice open alternative to commercial engines, or other open source engines which are difficult to master or slightly outdated.

The engine is quite new and under heavy development right now, binaries/installers, and more documentation will be available soon.

Here's a video where the developer talks about it and his goals https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZ0SOmfkAjA

It took me four weeks to discover it, searching the net on a daily basis about open source stuff which may fit to my needs. No surprise that you haven't heard about it Cyber, they kept it very low profile. I think because it's still under heavy development and lacking documentation. I thought it would be a good idea to mention it here and this way maybe get some folks participating with it's development. Could be a very nice engine for VR further down the road.

The YT video blew my mind, i had to register there on the forum immediately. It's somehow what i was looking for and would have done if i'd have C++ knowledge. I messed around with Processing a bit in the past and somehow dreamed of something similar but going more in the "games" direction.

C++ is definitively something i want to figure out, and the whole idea behid the LuaJIT scripting in this engine is to make you familiar with it but removing the hardest C++ parts, so that you can move later into C++ and find your way there already beeing famuiliar with it somehow.
