A tip would be to test your locomotion mechanics on a bunch of people very early on before spending too much time in that direction. And make sure they give honest answers. As much as i love the idea of a 'Vanquish' style action shooter i know that i get motion sick very easily ( still after a year of dk1 ) and your description definitely sounds challenging in that respect.
