Share your VR development experience [Survey for developers]
Hi everyone!
I'm Tuukka Takala, a VR researcher in Aalto University, Finland.
Creating VR apps can be challenging, because most developers are not used to VR hardware and 3D user interfaces that are required. Therefore I created the following survey to map problems in VR development:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1zeelAh4sHY56G1et7pE_g9s0gV7deT47c32X8MW_o9o
Please answer the survey if you have tried developing your own VR applications. I'm particularly looking for developers that have used Razer Hydra, Leap Motion, Kinect, or other motion tracked controllers (not just keyboard, mouse, and gamepad). If your VR app uses head orientation as a 2D cursor to select things or trigger actions, that also fits what I'm looking for.
The survey results will eventually be published and help the VR community, both hobbyists and researchers.
In case you're interested, my previous results from developers who answered the same survey in 2011 are here:
http://blog.ruisystem.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/takala.pdf
I'm looking forward to see how the developers' answers might have changed in four years, and what challenges still remain.
Keep on hacking,
-TTakala
