You don't NEED to use a Xbox controller, almost ANY controller is just as good. Weather you like the Xbox controller or not has mostly to do with button placement, as ALL the parts are not anything better than most of the comparable game controllers out there, such as Playstation Controllers. I use PS2 Controllers with a 3 Dollar adapter that will handle 2 PS2 controllers(or PS1). Also there is a Xbox Controller emulator out there that will make almost any game controller for PC will act as if it was an Xbox controller, as well as it will emulate other game controllers too, as well as wheels, and other game-pads.
