Strange Tunneling ingame View. Help/New to the forum

Hey fellow Rifters

Im new to the forums so sorry if i posted this in the wrong section.

But Im making a game in unity3d ive downloaded the SDK and got it working. ive been developing my game for a little while now but ive had a problem the whole time. i thought once i exported my game it would be fixed because i thought it was something to do with the resolution but its not.

the problem/bug im having is that my ingame view with the oculus rift on is tunneled(or thats what i could explain it as) its like the middle of the screen/view is nowmal and the sides around the middle screen are (or look like) they have a different "Field Of View". but when you move your head around this middle view that seems normal seems to move. and gives this strange, unNatural effect which i havnt seen in other VR games.

i was just wondering how to fix it

is it something to do with the resolution afterwards?

or is it to do with the eye's distance apart (in-game distance)?

is it something to do with the version on unity im using which is 4.0.1 (i just commanted out the line where i had errors which included .HasProLicence and the anti-aliasing)?

any Help Would Be greatly appreciated

Thanks ~Scott

PS if im posting this in the wrong section please tell me where to post it :)

I think the current version of the Oculus Unity integration requires Unity 4.2 and up. Also Unity Pro.

If you're not using Unity Pro, you'll need that in order to do full-screen image effects (such as the lens correction effect on the Rift cameras). If you bought the devkit directly from Oculus, I believe you should get a 4-month Unity Pro trial code on your sales page.
  • ok cool thanks

what is the lense correction effects is that where on the VR CameraController the Vertical FOV and the IPD variables auto adjust themselves.

and what does unity 4.2 do that unity 4.0 doesnt

    thanks for replying

The lens correction effect is the part that warps the left and right images from their original rectangular shape to the odd curved shapes, and without this you are going to get a very strange view in the Rift which is probably the reason for your post.

Not sure what Unity integration does that is dependent on 4.2. I used to know but I forgot. :)
