This looks like something that would be useful for scanning your surroundings, more than actually tracking since the latency seems to be pretty bad for VR.
I think it's way too expensive though, it's far more expensive than the Kinect, and i can't think of a reason why.
I've been wondering if you could use something like this on your room to make a high fidelity 3d rendering that could work on VR by simply strapping it on the rift. by simply using it over time the fidelity of the model could become better and better.
It could be sort of an "offline" 3d render of your surroundings at high quality with no latency.
I think i would prefer that to low resolution, real time 3d tracking that is ridden with latency.
