Tiny Room DX12 Missing "sdkddkver.h" and "Unknwn.h" Includes

So I've done some coding before and decided to give the Oculus SDK a shot. Given my setup I installed the OculusSDK folder at the top of my D drive and checked my C drive's program files to make sure I had the Windows 10 SDK installed. Everything looked good, but when I opened the VS2015 DX12 demo of OculusRoomTiny the first thing I noticed was that the sdkddkver.h and Unknwn.h includes were erroring out as well as several references in the code.

Are these files something that's being imported from the Windows 10 SDK? If so, why would it be erroring if I have the matching SDK version?

  • You may have to set the include directories manually.
    For example, on my machine "sdkddver.h" is in:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Include\shared

    dx12 is win10 only, vs2015 does not install the windows kit 10 by default, you need to install it separately and everything will be back in order : https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/windows-10-sdk

    @cybereality the windows kit 8.1 ( less than 10 < ) cannot do any good to a dx12 sample :)

  • Figured it out. It had to do with changing the target version to match my WindowsSDK. Thanks for your help guys.
