Unity 4 beginners tutorial
Can anyone recommend some good Unity 4 tutorials that start with an empty project and go from there?
I've found a few tutorials that include quality information that is conveyed well, but nothing of consistent quality.

- BlueshockHonored GuestTry Unity Cookie. The tutorial series articles are not free and require a subscription, but you gain access to the whole cg cookie network including Blender for creating your assets if you do subscribe, plus the quality is far better than that of those on youtube.

Hope it helps. - VoodooPuppyHonored GuestIf you're new to Unity, start here:
http://www.unity3dstudent.com/
The tutorials are short and to the point.
In just a few sections, Essentials -> Beginner -> Intermediate, he'll have you working with the most common building blocks you'll need for making games in Unity.
Hope this helps. - mihalskiHonored GuestThanks to both of you.
I'll start with http://www.unity3dstudent.com/ as it's free, and I actually found it shortly after making my post. It's encouraging to have it recommended.
I'll give Unity Cookie a closer look when I can afford it, and after I've taken advantage of some of the better free resources.

Michal - metrowaveHonored GuestThere has to be some more free tuts. Unity is very popular now. I saw some good tutorials on vimeo.com. Also there is this intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2kmi103tpU
- SkyleadHonored GuestI like the cooking with unity series on youtube
- Felix12gHonored GuestIs the Platformer tutorial still around from the 2.x days? I thought that was a pretty good way to get people running pretty quick.
- EthDalHonored GuestThanks, this info was all pretty useful. I hate asking for help on forums, so these tutorials should give me a good jump-off point. I've been programing for years, but this is my first attempt at VR and Unity in particular. Thans again!
- torsonHonored GuestThanks for sharing guys!
- enzeddaExplorerNot being a fan of video tutes I got this book that Cybereality recommended:

Unity is pretty easy to get into and the book is fantastic for those new to scripting in Csharp.
Whilst I find Unity pretty easy..possibly because of my Max background, I must say that the real problems and I mean REAL problems occur when the Oculus Unity Integration is used.
That will be your major hurdle.
My stupid opinion is to learn Unity as much as you can without even thinking of the Rift.
Then depending on the Oculus SDK and various new "updates" and "fixes" get into VR.
But be warned that any new Oculus "updates" will probably require some more hair pulling and sleepless nights once again :) - AnonymousI found the book on a google drive if anyone wants to have a look before they buy it:
