Unreal and Unity Requirements
Hello.
As I understand it, if a developer wishes to use either the Unreal Engine or Unity there are the following restrictions:
- A full UE3 license is required to make use of the Rift integration
- A Unit 4.x Pro license is required to use the Rift
Is this still expected to be the case when the development kit is launched, or will the free version of either engine be a viable alternative?

- SiggiGProtegeI remember hearing that Oculus will be supported in the free version of Unity3d, but it sounded like it will be "baked in" as part of a point release?
Will this Unity3d version be ready by March? - phosfiendHonored GuestGood Question.
We're not exactly thrilled by the fact that Unity 4.0 seems to be a requirement. While I have no doubt that our tech lead is more than capable of making it work with Unity 3.X - I don't think we have the time/money to do that.
I'll try to see if we can set aside some time this month for Unity 3.X tests - here's hoping!

I'll be very interested to know if you can get it to work with Unity 3.x, we haven't upgraded all our licenses either. - cyberealityGrand ChampionWe are doing our best to see if we can support the free versions of Unreal and Unity. At this time, you need to have a pro license and we don't yet know when (or if) this will change.
We are providing a sample integration with Unity 4.0. It would probably not be that hard to look at how it was done and port it to Unity 3.x. I don't think we are using any 4.0 exclusive features, so there's no specific reason it couldn't work. - SiggiGProtegeThanks for the reply Cybereality :) I must say I really like the Unity integration so far, it was super simple to get it up and running and I'm having tons of fun! Running on a trial of 4.x until we get our 3.x licenses upgraded, and it's working just fine.
- cyberealityGrand ChampionAwesome! Glad that's working for you, SiggiG.
