USB failed to recognize, failure when connecting DK2

When i try to connect the oculus to my new PC, windows says it failed to recognize

There is orange light on DK2, but no display on screen, i have tried 0.6, 0.7 and 0.8 runtime. Tried all the things mentioned on interwebs but to no avail.

Any help / pointers appreciated.

  • Also the windows evven logs shows following

The description for Event ID 0 from source OVRServiceLauncher cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

[LauncherService] Unable to launch: There is no active interactive user session.

  • So the GT 730 is a terribly low-end/cheap card that probably can't run anything in VR. Not sure if that's the main problem, but it can't help. Can you try switching video ports for the DK2 (for example using the HDMI port or DVI port with an HDMI-to-DVI adapter)? I'd also check the cabling on the headset (under the door on the front) to make sure the cables are connected all the way.
  • Thanks for your reply, i tried connecting to a HP workstation with Intel Xeon, 64GB ram, GTX 970, and still have the same issue, Windows fails to recognize the device.

i have checked the cabels and they look correct, when i press the power button and plugin USB, orange light comes up, but system does not recognize HMD.
  • My config shows the DK2 is attached, but the light is still orange. The DK2 worked on my desktop perfectly before.
