Using Gear VR controller in Windows

Hello!

I want to use Gear VR controller in Windows 7 64bit application. Is there a way to do this?
As I understand it can be connected via bluetooth (laptop built-in or dongle). But will it be recognized as HID device? I want to have accelerometer/gyro data as well as buttons and touchpad.

  • hello,

When using the VR, this controller becomes a replacement for a lot of the activity normally done on the headset itself. You can look down and see the controller in VR, and as you point the end of the controller at things you'll see an almost laser pointer effect. You can select things without turning your head, shoot enemies in games, and drag things around on the screen as you see fit.

With this remotes the arm can really rest, and you can just move a little the wrist and the fingers for occasional usage exactly like you do when you use mouse for PC/laptop. Furthermore, being little and ergonomic, your fingers can stay at an almost-rest position, so it’s really comfortable. It’s like a mouse, but for VR.

  • @imperativity  Is it the same situation with the Oculus Go controller?  It would be really handy to use the Go controller in the Unity editor.
  • I haven't been able to pair the oculus go controller either. Does anyone know of any similar wireless controllers that can be paired with Windows and programmed using the bluetooth SDK?
