Viewing stereoscopic images

Hey guys,

I'm trying to make a simple stereoscopic image viewer. Right now I just have two planes overlapping, one with the left image texture, one with the right. I then have the left eye only render the left textured plane, and the right eye only rendering the right textured plane. It works pretty well, but something still seems off. Definitely makes me a little nauseous and gives me a headache. Is there a better technique for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Have you played with the depth of the planes, or with adjusting their horizontal positioning?
  • I have not, I'll try that right now. Are there any methods to figuring out the best positioning or is it just trial and error? Thanks for the reply!

  • You can try putting the plane at 1.5m distance from the eye. I think that should be comfortable.
  • How about regular stereoscopic images.. ones that are premade.. and not 360.. like taken with a HTC 3d evo.. how do you view those.. I drop em in gallery folder and It don't come out like it should.. still seeing 2 images.. am I doing something wrong?

    Maybe a specific folder?

I don't believe normal stereo images are supported yet.

it is not clear if the thread is about GearVR or DK2. There are certainly ways of looking at 3d images in DK2 eg. LiveViewRift.
  • I'm sorry, that is a good point.

I was responded to a comment about GearVR, but it's possible the OP was asking about DK2.
  • Yea.. my bad.. I was google searching when I found this thread.. didn't realize till after it wasn't about the gear vr which is what I was talking about. I have currently asked about it in the proper section with the same answer.. not supported.
