- DavideusHonored GuestWow !!! I love p90... keep it up !
- lmaceleightonHonored GuestJust wanted to give a heads up to anyone following this thread that I have updated my prototype, and it is now VERY functional, and I will provide a video of it working very soon(over the next couple of days, while I set up for the camera shoot). The prototype is still a bit rough in form, as it is plastic, taking it apart over and over again has a lasting effect(you notice a bit of electricians tape on spots that have nothing to do with handle wrapping;O/ ) However the goal here was to come up with the Proof of Concept, and then once I have 'most' of the programming bugs worked out, I will move to kickstarter campaign and hopefully all of you will help me make a better prototype, all the while keeping the price point 'VERY' low and varied. Meaning I want several packages/types of weapons...or perhaps I will make a VR Game Gun kit(The p90 is designed for a specific game BUT I though not everyone would like the p90 design so kits may be the answer). This is where I sell you instructions and all the electronic components you need to make your own in what ever shell you want it in;O) We were thinking about kits a lot lately, what do you guys think about some of this? I will REALLY want everyones help ironing out things like movement, for 2D as well as rift mode. Looking forward to hearing any comment, and ill see you soon wit the video!
- lmaceleightonHonored GuestWell here is some raw footage from the 2D test(No Oculus videos yet), but now that i've tested a bit with the recording software I will begin some recording with a real camera, this was a cheap webcam so there is a tiny delay on the webcam window.
Do remember that this does not necessarily represent the final look or anything, but this is a final proof of concept! So now I will prepare for some sort of crowd funding to help get a really nice prototype out, and then on to something(hopefully!) consumer ready:O)

Edit: Got the video to display right on the page! Thanks Cyber! - lmaceleightonHonored GuestI should actually warn anyone that watches to keep the volume down, my house is noisy sometimes;O)
- lmaceleightonHonored GuestDoes anyone know of ny tutorial about setting up to record my screen, and myself using the Oculus, and well my Motion Controller too. I have an external Camera that take decent video taking video of me while I play, and I tried frap, and then I bought bandicam, but they both crash the game, is there anything more reliable for a set up? I will keep trying this but I feel like this should be easy... :O/
*edit* I wasn't patient enough with Fraps, it seems to work now:O) - lmaceleightonHonored GuestAnyone out there have any experience making a product such as this(or anything at all really?)? I am having trouble
deciding where to go with from here now that everything is working the way I want.
I have ZERO drift( or its so slight that I cannot see it), and it work 100% with the OVR(2D games are great with it, but 3D OVR is "WAY" better!), although the design of the rifle is not going to be great in this form for LONG gaming sessions. Its heavy, after 20 minutes you can feel it, and after 45 you want to put it down for a minute or two, so I would like to get the weight down, but at the same time it still doesn't have force feedback(adding more weight!), and while that is a minor problem I don't want to make unnecessary steps in the wrong direction, and being only one person doing this I think I could use a bit of help, as I have never done anything like this before .
Guess I am looking for a partner, but if I don't find one this is still going to happen, as this IS my entire life right now, and there is no way that I could come up something that works this well as a prototype, and not see it further. I feel like I NEED to do this...perhaps this is MY way of making sure that VR happens, but we all need to do are part if this going to happen. So if any of you out there want to help make this a reality instead of just watching, please PM me or send me an email :O) I would love to talk to anyone about this who has interest;O)

PS Almost forgot: Still working on the Oculus video, but I don't do a lot of video editing, so getting the two steams aligned is a bit challenging I guess for those unenlightened masters at after-works!! - lmaceleightonHonored Guestand here is the latest pictures:

- cyberealityGrand ChampionNice.
- lmaceleightonHonored GuestOk, so now there is ANOTHER VR gun that is coming up on Kickstarter(viewtopic.php?f=25&t=10680), and while it looks like the PS Move, and will probably work OK, I don't think this is what people want. I am not even sure if what I am making is what the people want. So we are changing up our strategy a bit. I am going to turn our kickstarter into a community project. Were going to not only let people back us( at this point were looking for material to get us started...like a 3D printer!), but everyone will have a voice into what the final product is. That way WE the community at large can make our OWN game controller for VR, the Oculus rift, and gaming in general. So that is all the details I have as my ever growing group just came up with this as an answer to some of the product like this new VR Device that is coming out. Also I am not saying that this one, any of the other tools are bad, in anyway, as I have not used ANY of them. I can tell by some posts by people in other forums, and by my general reaction that this isn't going to do it. I say the community takes over. What do you say? Who want to design the right controller for the job? Lets chat here or send me a PM if you are really interested in helping and well talk about your qualifications. I am currently looking for a technical artist, and someone else besides me with a degree in Simulation Programming or something similar.
- nosys70Expert Protegei think the best project should be a tube with 2 components.
1) the tracker for aiming, if possible wireless.
2) the recoil unit, that could be as simple as an heavy load sliding into a coil , with rubber at one side and a magnet at the other side. When the trigger s pressed, the magnet cut, the coil is activated. the load is pushed into the coil and
hit the end of the tube. the rubber ball can be on the load or at the end of the tube, it doesn't matter.
thanks to the rubber ball, the load goes reverse direction and is locked by the magnet.
If all is self contained , you can mount it in any 3d printed gun or replica. ideally the project would publish the blue print for printing some cool weapons (from sword to space age gun).
there could be a third module for people asking for more buttons or sensors (like a IR detector to detect when you get the gun in front of the oculus (or any other IR led) , and switch to sniper mode.
to keep the project simple, the product wouldn't be a finished product.
it would be a kit , with all parts and information. so we skip the manufacturing process.
for people who would like to get the finished product anyway, we could have some network of people who want ot offer the build against money, so it would be not only crow funding but also crow production.
The advantage is you could probably find a skilled "builder" next to you
