VR Tablet
I dont know if this was adressed before but what about taking a real tablet and putting infrared leds on it for position tracking, the same way as they do position tracking with the headset.
Capture the tablet output and then render it on a virtual tablet that has the same position as the real tablet.
With that virtual tablet you can write on keyboard, use the touch screen as a mouse, render any window on the tablet and use the touch to interact with it, use the tablet cam to open a real world window, have a object to be grounded to. etc..
Isnt it the perfect companion for vr ??

- dagf2101Honored GuestA big problem is that you would need your fingers to tap on the tablet, something like leep motion will be required for sure.
- flawExplorersounds like an interesting idea and i'm sure there could be a lot of applications but i'm struggling with the physical logistics of it.
- dagf2101Honored GuestGood point, maybe using the cam of the tablet could help a bit to see where you drop it.
I guess it would need some sort of trigger to make it visible or maybe faded from your sight. - ganzuulHonored GuestCapacitive touch screens are capable of sensing your fingers hovering above the screen. The drivers usually don't expose this feature though, and it might require a more sensitive signal chain than what devices ship with to be useful.
