What is a good way to handle third person movement?

Anyone know a good way to handle controller movement in Unity/C#? If a player is pressing left of the controller, they would move their character on the horizontal axis but if I turn my head, I want them to still move left of where I am looking. Any tips would be appreciated.

  • Have you tried the OVR player controller that comes with the OVR unity utilities pack?

There are a few options that you can set, to allow or disallow head rotation to effect the whole body rotation.

This isn't a direct answer but I would suggest copying the control scheme from Lucky's Tale if using a moving viewpoint or Chronos for a fixed viewpoint. The control scheme will then likely be familiar to the player, making the game easier to play.

How do you copy Lucky's Tale. Did they post their code in an article?
