- Shannonb1Explorer235$ us dollars,,,,um no.....for 75$ maybe, but its too close to the omni in price and for what?
- MadarasExpert ProtegeWatched the video, the omni appears worlds better. I don't want to "shuffle" through Skyrim, or Gaia. I want to walk and run.
- SlopeyHonored GuestThe guy getting on the dish in the video looks like he's bricking it when he first gets on!
Granted, I've not tried one, but there has to be a high possibility of falling over on this thing when wearing the Rift. If not, why did they need to create the crash pillow? - geekmasterProtegeAlthough the number of backers are really too low for accurate statistics, it was trending as a successful kickstarter campaign yesterday (117-percent of goal), but not today (88-percent of goal):

With such low numbers, perhaps one additional backer today could push the trend into the success region.
Hopefully, there will be a surge of European supporters (especially those who did not get the Virtuix Omni because of high international shipping costs). - MadarasExpert Protege

Good point. I personally would prefer the Omni, but if international shipping kills its shipment elsewhere it would be nice for people to have a device locally, though who knows maybe Omni will set up a European office when VR really gets rolling. - geekmasterProtegeCompared to alternatives, the price-point is too high for general acceptance when shipping is included, for huge upsurge in backers. If it was a more attractive price, like $179+shipping (at least for a limited number of early backers), I think there would have a huge surge of initial backers, perhaps starting a media sensation like other hugely successful kickstarter campaigns.
I was certainly hoping for a more affordable "early backer" tier. Even with my "worn out" knees, I would have jumped on it in a heartbeat for $179. But at this price (admittedly not THAT much higher, but still over a perceptual $200 barrier), I and others would really need to TRY one out first before making that commitment. A more convincing video, demonstrating stability while wearing a Rift with your peripheral vision covered, would help alleviate a lot of FUD, I think. But with what we have now, FUD is all their is (except for those who have had the opportunity to actually TRY a WizDish).
We need more convincing videos demonstrating that you do not need to see the REAL horizon to safely not fall off this device.
Also, what kind of lubrication does the WizDish use? How could it affect the WAF ("Wife Acceptance Factor") if you track lubricant onto the expensive carpeting?
I hope this kickstarter is successful, but I think a limited low-price ("loss leader") tier could have GUARANTEED success many times over. That initial momentum would have attracted a lot more interest, to get the "hype machine" momentum kickstarted, drawing media attention, and assuring success.
If this kickstarter does not succeed, perhaps it can be restarted with an early backer tier. - MickmanProtegeI sort of feel the timing was not right for the WizDish entering KickStarter ( right after the Omni )
Perhaps a lower price would also have sealed a lot more deals. £150.00 for a piece of plastic and shoes with teflon studs... hhmm. under £100.00 is more realistic.
ok so enough constructive criticism.. I still feel it really is a simple and effective approach to get mobile in a V.R environment. it may not look like a natural walking gait but I'm under the impression once you're immersed in the world and there is very little friction you'd tend to feel as though you're floating while you walk.. just the left right, left right actions is probably enough to convince the brain you're traversing the environment.. sure hope it helps alleviate Motion sickness that seems to be plaguing the Oculus Rift.
Another element I liked about the WizDish is its silent... this would be its greatest asset. it is quiet.. I look towards the Omni & man that thing sounds loud.... real loud. there is nothing that will reduce the fact you;re slamming your feet into a plastic concave dish... whereas the Wizdish simply slides...
