WOW! RF positional tracking!

A Radio Frequency 4GHz transmitter in front of the user (or 4 of them to cover a complete room) and a receiver on the HMD, to track the absolute receiver position; paired with a classic 9DOF IMU to track the receiver rotations.
To-date, the most practical, relatively low cost, fast and reliable idea for positional tracking I've seen!
And it can be used to track every other input device the user can use (like a move/hydra-like controller!)
It really seems this guy has to be hired by Oculus on the spot!

  • Oh I'm real sorry, I made a search before posting and didn't find anything, the search engine of this forum is so different from what I'm used to, if I searh for "RF tracking" it shows waaaay too many unrelated threads :x
  • No need to apologise so strongly. I think the RF tracker that is shown in the video looks amazing. I was already following the other thread so I thought I'd point you to it.
  • And following that thread, I remembered that I already viewed the original mtbs3d discussion of krenzo (the author) at the end of 2012, but it was built out of Lego pieces and it had not so good accuracy, I was't really impressed, so I didn't realized that this video was the latest prototype of that same project :D
