How to downgrade to old version

So the newest version of my app doesn't work and I want to install the old one.  But it keeps saying adb: failed to install Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_VERSION_DOWNGRADE]

I tried adb install -r -d already, it did not help.  It's really annoying how you can't actually delete something off the Quest, what is that about?
