Midi Instruments/Controllers With Oculus Quest?

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if it is possible to connect a midi instrument/controller to the Oculus Quest (via usb or possibly even bluetooth Midi?!) and have the midi signals drive animations and parameters in a Unity scene? I assume this is possible in general for Android and Unity for a phone or tablet based app so shouldn't be too hard in principle on the Quest I hope (bar any intentional gimping by Oculus...). Thanks in advance for any feedback.

  • you havent tested anything yet, have you? Wired or on phones?

I use my AKAI Pro LPK25 Wireless on my Shield Tablet at times. Haven't got that here right now though. From my experiments with the quest, i am running right now, it seem you can treat it pretty much as a Phone/Tablet. Just think about if whatever you do is something a less knowledgeable user would go through, if you are thinking about an app you want to distribute. There are people having problems connecting gamepads you know. That might be down to gimping though.

I played somewhat with this back then: https://github.com/keijiro/MidiJack
edit: I actually only used my LPK25 with trackers on my Shield. And Keijiro's plugin with Unity on Windows. Just realized i might have worded that badly. Maybe you want to have a look at it anyways.
