6 years agoNative development tutorials for beginner / inexperienced in Android?
Hello!
My current experience in mobile development leans strongly against iOS, feeling well versed working on it. By contrast, my experience in Android development does not go beyond making very simple one-screen apps, with only the tiniest bit of experience using JNI.
For my next project, and for reasons tied specifically to the nature of the project itself, I'm required to work with an environment that allows me to call a sizable amount of already existing C++ code. When I downloaded and, well, "installed" the Mobile SDK along with Android Studio into my machine, and attempted to see the examples, I got myself a bit confused since they don't seem to follow a traditional Android app dev pattern (that is, unless I greatly misinterpreted most of what I saw there).
Also, I haven't purchased (yet) an Oculus Quest headset - something which probably adds to the confusion I'm feeling right now.
Do you have pointers to any tutorials or easy-to-follow examples that allow somebody like me to start developing an app that can run on a Quest, just before I go and actually purchase the headset?

- R1PFakeProtegeI think the easiest solution would be to use a engine like Unity or Unreal, im not sure how far you can get with native / android studio for VR.
