Please allow more aggressive dimming of the screen..

Not sure if there is a hardware or software limitation, but even at its lowest dim settings the device is way to bright for me. If we could make the display way dimmer my eyes will thank you.

Please and thank you.

  • Yes! I've tried a lot of things to make the Quest 3 display dimmer, but nothing worked. Recent versions of Android introduced an extra dimming option, which Meta could consider enabling on its VR devices. That would make it more comfortable for people to use them for longer periods.

  •  Meta Quest 2 and 3 users with sensitive eyes, here's how to adjust the brightness and potentially other settings for a more comfortable experience:

    Adjusting brightness in Quest 2 & 3

    Access Quick Settings:

Turn on your Quest headset and put it on.

From the home screen, press the Oculus/Meta button on your right controller to open the universal menu.

Locate and select the "Quick Settings" icon (often a gear or settings icon).

    Use the Brightness Slider:

Within Quick Settings, find the brightness slider (usually labeled "Brightness").

Slide it to the left to decrease the brightness intensity to a level that feels comfortable for your eyes.

    Additional tips for eye comfort

Night Mode (Blue Light Filter): Enable Night Mode (also known as a blue light filter) for warmer colors and reduced blue light emissions, according to YouTube. This can make the display easier on the eyes, especially for prolonged use or during nighttime play.

Adjust Contrast: Experiment with the contrast slider in the Accessibility settings to find a level that provides a good visual experience without being too harsh on your eyes.

To do this, navigate to the universal menu, then Quick Controls, Settings, Accessibility, Vision, and finally adjust the Contrast slider.

Optimal IPD (Interpupillary Distance): Ensure the IPD is correctly set for your eyes for clearer and more comfortable viewing, explains Medical 3D Animation Company.

Adjust the IPD using the lens adjustment wheel or buttons until the visuals are sharp and comfortable.

Headset Fit: Adjust the headset straps and depth to ensure a secure and comfortable fit, distributing the weight evenly and preventing pressure points. This can help improve overall comfort and reduce strain during extended use.

Take Breaks: Remember to take frequent breaks from VR to rest your eyes and prevent discomfort.
