Problems using oculus link

Hello,

I recently got a quest 2 to play games and use it with Unity (A Game Engine)

so I installed the pc Oculus Application  an connected my quest using my link cable  but it kept giving me this spinning circle .

windows recognizes it as a quest 2 and i dont know the problem.

when i open the oculus app it gives me this message

Is the problem with my GPU?

These are my pc specs:

i5-10400 @2.90ghz

16 GB ram

Intel HD 630 GPU

(note: i do not have usb 3.0 )

.................................................

Is the problem with usb 2.0 or with my GPU or Both?

Thanks.

The GPU is definitely your first problem. I think the CPU is also on the low end of "VR Ready".

I don't want you to feel like I'm roasting you, but your machine specs are perplexing. You have a 1 year old CPU, a 5 year old integrated Intel GPU and no USB 3.0 at all? I don't think it's possible for a machine built in the last 4 years to not have USB 3.0 ports. You may not have USB C ports, but that's different.

You should take a look at these videos. This guy reviews a bunch of cables that are compatible with Quest Link. You have to keep in mind that a USB A -> USB C cable you're using to charge your phone probably isn't going to work, because they're not designed for data transmission, but there are USB 3.0 A -> C cables that will work.

Also, keep in mind that if you get a new GPU you'll probably need a new power supply, and the power supply may not fit in the case, and this is going to become an expensive slippery slope trying to upgrade this machine.

  • Yeah man. What's been said.  I have a computer bought almost 5 years ago in 2017.  It's an i5 6600k and a GTX 1070.  Ya gota have the blue USB 3 ports for sure.. I can play Half-life Alyx on airlink.  You're not going to get it working on USB2 and integrated graphics. Are you actually on a laptop?

Minimum GPU spec to run Oculus Home is a GTX 1060.  It is said that Intel HD 630 GPU is the equivalent of a GTX 1050Ti . So you are just barley brushing up against the low bar for minimum spec. Good luck!
