Quest 3 passthrough black after developing with Unreal.

Hey,

the normal passthrough function in the Quest 3 doesn't function anymore / is black after diving into Unreal development and setting everything up.

The toggle in the menu is NOT greyed out. Passthrough works when playing First Encounters though.

Anyone experienced the same thing?

Thankful for any kind of help!

  • Did a factory reset, passthrough in the "no app" mode was working again. Launched my Unreal testapp, that uses the passthrough feature, put the headset on, passthrough works in the unreal app, close the app *BOOM* passthrough is black again. No way to fix it except factory reset. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

  • Hi, You can checkout this repository if you are having issues in Quest 3 Passthrough

    https://github.com/ayushanbhore/Unreal-Quest3-PassthroughSample

Coming to your issue of Quest 3 doesn't function anymore and blacks out, it may be because you opened "Start Environment Depth" feature but forgot to close it. Use the Stop Environment Depth in Blueprint once you have mapped your space.

Here is what we use to access Depth API in Unreal Engine

    Hope this helps.

While I'm not a developer. I too have the issue where when I exit a game, the passthrough is just black.
I can see the menu, when I toggle passthrough, it goes into my virtual space, then toggle back to passthrough and it's the menu with black screen.

To fix it, I have to push the power button to put it to sleep(I think that's what a one press does). Then press the power again, and the passthrough comes back.

I may have a defective unit though since when I look at my phone the phone looks all warped, and the phone is center frame .

  • Have same problem. It happened after update to V60. Never had it before on V59. Now I have almost always after close some games like beatsaber. Need to restart device to fix it.

Hi there, 007x007! Making sure you're able to enjoy your VR experience to the fullest is definitely a priority for us, and we certainly want to help get that Passthrough working as it should! If you haven't already, have you been able to confirm if the passthrough comes back on when you double tap the side of your headset? In case you need it, here's the steps to make sure that is turned on:

      1. Press the logo button on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
      2. Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
      3. Select  Settings in the top right corner.
      4. Select Physical Space.
      5. Select Passthrough from the left menu.
      6. Select the toggle next to Double Tap for Passthrough to turn this feature on.
      7. Hard reboot your headset:
        • Turn off your headset.
        • Firmly hold the power and volume down (-) buttons on your headset simultaneously for about a minute, or until the boot screen loads on your headset.
        • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight 'Boot device' and press the power button to complete that.

We look forward to hearing from you, so get back to us when you can if anything changes!

        HI

I do not make hard reboot because have too many things to reinstall back and some apps can lose settings. Rest steps do not help.
