Software requires root access
Hello! I would like to know if there is a way to install an x-system for oculus quest 2. I serve a software called A\VROS, and using it on Quest 2 would be possible, if I can get root access to android linux. Ofc, users need root access to install and configure linux software, with the x-system, so I'm interested if this is possible, or is it against some kind of ToS? Using A\VROS is possible with a link cable and external computer, but its not optimal for quest 2 that has its own linux based operating system, and can do everything a PC can do, if given enough access to software installs.

You won't get root access from Meta and what else is out there is questionable and a violation of the enduser agreement.
Then there is the issue that the app you want is available for certain devices but it has not been updated for a long while.
Since it is a paid software it would be the developer you contact and not Meta.
There is plenty of remote desktop apps available now and I highly doubt Meta will provide anything to make apps work they don't (officially) support. - DownunderGrumpyHeroic Explorer
Another problem with a rooted Quest:
Your account has to be secure but with an unsecure headset this won't work.
Means Meta can lock you out from purchases or accessing game servers.
If your device/account gets crippled you might run into other issues as well.
Like a lot of the backend stuff relying on a secure bootloader and refusing to work without it.
In the best case you will probably get excluded from OTA updates and since Meta does not offer any manual options you can get stuck on old firmware.
And IF you get full access by rooting the headset - how exactly do you want to edit/change the Android system - it is secured as well....
One mistake and you have a brick you can't recover from.
So far there is no custom recovery available and no option to restore a NAND backup if the headset is bricked.
Making it pretty much a one way ticket - and all this for ONE app ?
