Uploading and viewing 3D model in Oculus Meta Quest 2

I have a very basic and simple question, unfortunately I cannot find any documentation or a simple Hello World kind of explanation.

I have a 3d Model of file type usdz or glv or gltf. I am trying to upload and view it in Oculues Quest 2. I have seen videos which tell me to add it to a "import" subdirectory - where is this subdirectory, I cannot find it on my PC. I have asked other, some say use Horizon, etc.

So, please is there anyone who knows step by step on how to this? It has been a very frustrating experience trying to make this basic thing to work. Anyone from Facebook / Meta support who knows???

The way that I did, was to export my model in OBJ/MTL(from Fusion), with a MATERIAL (regard apparency) applied to each component of the model. Then in Mixed Reality using the app Caddy, I was able to open it and explode components, and other things... For USDZ ones, I´m trying with SimLab VR, but it´s  a little bit more complicated (seems).. 😉

  • You can use side-loading to get your 3D model onto the Quest 2. If you’re working with GLB or FBX files, try using a VR file viewer or an app that supports 3D model inspection. Also, if you're looking for how to view ai files in thumbnail in explorer on your PC, you'll need to install the right thumbnail preview extension since Windows doesn’t support AI files by default.
