Any new Unity 5 examples coming soon ?
I am wondering if Oculus has anything cooking as far as examples for Unity 5, to rival Unity's VR examples (with various types of interactions, various locomotions, etc.), with more or less very near future release in mind. Or is everyone working toward Rift release currently ?

- vrdavebOculus StaffWe work closely with Unity, including their samples team. We aren't planning to release anything to "rival" them, but we do have some complementary SDK examples at https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/ ... _Examples/ and some additional samples for specific use cases coming soon. Note that Unity's VR samples are just examples and not boilerplate or an SDK.

Well, Unity examples allow me to grab them as-is, remove stuff I don't need, add my art and have a working prototype in no time. Especially true for GUIs / locomotion. This way a programmer can grab my prototype and have an idea of what it will feel like, before committing to the project (or I can see whether the concept I've chosen is viable or too performance taxing).
I can't do anything (or rather much) with Oculus Utils (I haven't tried samples yet, so maybe I am wrong here) except have an app where I spawn in a scene and have gamepad controls - no touch pad, no back button, no GUIs and interactions and no locomotions (except gamepad, which I think the worse locomotion ever for people who are prone to develop motion sickness quickly).
So I would imagine having same kind of samples from Oculus that seamlessly integrate with Utils would put me yet another step closer to a potential release of an experience, if not a fully fledged game.
So I am really hoping that upcoming new samples address these concerns :) - leftlerProtegeThe sample projects

The Oculus Utils does not let you do this, but the SDKExamples.unityPackage in the "Oculus Utilities for Unity 5 SDK Examples" download from https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/ definitely does.
It also has a Project Settings folder you can drop in to overwrite the default settings for a project to make it ready for the GearVR if you are developing for that platform.
