Black Padding?

I don't have a rift to test with yet, but I was curious about so much black padding when testing current projects. I would expect the image to go out to the edge. Does the rift not utilize the full screen resolution or am I missing something?

Basicly the size depends on the FOV used by the progam, and on how the distortion is applied. Also you can't see the screen borders while wearing the rift
  • The viewable screen area depends on several factors, especially your eye relief, the lenses used and the distance from the screen. In the best case scenario, the image actually will take up a lot more than that image you posted. In any case, if you configured the Rift properly you should not be able to see past the edges of the rendered image.
  • It sounds like you are saying once I have a rift to test with, the image will adjust depending on the rift's configuration. This makes sense. Thank you for the clarification :)
