[Compatibility] Build Target (Unknown) is not supported (SOLVED)

If you get "[Compatibility] Build Target (Unknown) is not supported" in the Project Validation tool, just change the XR Management to OpenXR for a moment, do a build, then go back to Oculus and that seems to straighten things out.  Hopefully this saves another time on this issue.

  • Yes, I am receiving this error too. I tried to fix but it doesn't work for me. I waited for a hour but the fix process could not complete. How did you solve it?

  • I've had this issue pop up since installing the Meta XR Platform plugin. I also get a couple recommendations in the Project Settings/Oculus section that keep coming back even though the settings in question are already properly set (Intermediate Texture to 'Auto; in Render Settings, and Apply Screen Instancing). The warnings don't cause any issues and don't prevent running builds, but it's a bit annoying.

They go away if I remove the plugin and use Unity's OpenXR plugin, but the above fix hasn't worked for me.
