?Decent Video Playback for desktop?

It seems universally accepted that OGG video / OGV sucks. There are half a dozen alternatives out there, but all of them seem to have their own issues.

It looks like Android is hooked up with Moonlight player.

Has anyone found a satisfactory video player?

We have used Bink2 on a few projects- and it works well, but it's super expensive and doesn't support Linux.
