Direct to Rift Problems
We're having a problem running a Unity build (actually any Unity build) in Direct to Rift mode with this exact laptop (that we bought especially for the purpose of demoing VR): ASUS G750JM, GeForce GTX860M 2GB, Core i7-4700HQ, 8GB RAM, Win 8.1 Link to full specs
Everything is working on our desktop machines, but the Laptop just won't display anything in Direct to Rift mode. The demo scene in the configuration utility works, but any Unity build does not.

- bernamorilloHonored GuestI have the same problem, no direct to rift with unity 4.5.3 in a high performance laptop with a nvidia gt 560m
Thanks in advance - kryptopathHonored Guesti have a similar problem with the laptops from a customer. i build on my desktop and everything works, but my customer can't see or use anything. :(
sorry to say, but the first devkit was a lot more userfriendly. plug it in and it worked. - pixelgrafixHonored GuestDitto on a Mac Pro running Bootcamp/Win7 Pro with an AMD Radeon HD 6770M.
I guess when DK1 piggy-backed on Windows it didn't have to worry about specific card support.
Now it has a direct driver suddenly Oculus have to get busy supporting graphic chip sets.
Will have to start lugging around a Firepro PowerStation until they fix! - cyberealityGrand ChampionThere are a number of known issues currently with laptop GPUs (especially w/ Nvidia Optimus) so I am not surprised people are experiencing problems. We are looking into potential fixes, but for now it may be good to only use desktops w/ dedicated GPUs.
- dogukanerenelHonored GuestHey,
ISSUE 1 - Windows Build (bootcamp mac):
I have couple of issues on Oculus as well on my bootcamp 8.1 windows pro. The demo scene is working fine in direct mode but my built from Unity show just black screen on Oculus nothing more (blue light is appearing but just black screen).
Computer: Macbook Pro 15inc late 2013 http://support.apple.com/kb/SP690 (with 2.3Ghz cpu and 16GB memory version.)
Graphic driver: I updated the graphic driver as well and still black screen from Unity Build using tool 0.4.2.
Integration tool version: 0.4.2
In addition, after selecting extend mode and mirror it (i know that you are not suggesting but for test purpose), it appears to 90 rotation in rift and horizontal view in my machine's display. (This 90 rotation is same in mac but it it was easy to solve in mac, windows rotates main display as well. In mac you can mirror and rotate just the extended monitor without chaining main one.)
ISSUE 2 - iOS build:
In addition to Direct to Rift - iOS build gives error when 0.4.2 tool is implemented. (I may open a new thread)
Open a new - empty project. Integrate OVR 0.4.2 tool and build for iOS gives that error (given below). It means that the tool uses something that Unity can't convert for iOS which can be solved by Platform Dependent Compilation (I guess.)
PS. I am integrating tool and building for iOS because I am using oculus on windows /mac build and I don't want to add/ delete each time to switch to iOS mode. The tool should just work :P
Error on building for iOS platform (from Unity 4.5.2f1 pro)
Cross compilation job Assembly-CSharp.dll failed.
UnityEngine.UnityException: Failed AOT cross compiler: /Applications/Unity/Unity.app/Contents/PlaybackEngines/iOSSupport/Tools/OSX/mono-xcompiler --aot=full,asmonly,nodebug,static,outfile="Assembly-CSharp.dll.s" "Assembly-CSharp.dll" current dir : /Users/dogukan/Documents/TempToDelete/Oculus042/Temp/StagingArea/Data/Managed
Env: Apple_PubSub_Socket_Render = '/tmp/launch-Dq8kGl/Render'
Thank you. - MapBuilderHonored GuestHi, got a solution for windows :
Here is a workaround to launch some apps
http://www.theriftarcade.com/how-to-fix-the-stuttering-in-unity-powered-games-on-dk2/
Just create a shortcut for your direct to rift and add behind the target path : -force-d3d9
"C:\Users\Marvin\Desktop\OculusFPS\Build\BuildRift_DirectToRift.exe" -force-d3d9
C:\Users\Marvin\Desktop\OculusFPS\Build\BuildRift_DirectToRift.exe -force-d3d9 // also work on seven
And it works

Direct to rift Directtorift game crashed build resolution issue problem directX9 run unity3D unity 4 integration - GKirkHonored GuestI have the same problem with my desktop development machine... seems to have come in with the latest sdk (0.4.2) and firmware update. The configuration utility demo screen works fine but when I play the bootcamp demo I get no display in the oculus DK2... The light on the power switch is orange. Is there a command to turn on the display that is missing in the OculusUnityIntegration package???? I have tried several applications such as Cyberspace and they have the same problem. My graphics controller is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti, I have 8 Gbts of Memory and an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3701 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) Running windows 8.1 latest...
- cyberealityGrand ChampionHave you tried switching between Direct and Extended mode? Some games won't work in Direct mode yet.
- bdeschryverExplorerCyberreality: If I am using a laptop with Nvidia Optimus but it is turned off in BIOS (only the Nvidia card is working), would that be equivalent to a desktop setup ? (regarding display issues) Or is there something more between non-optimus laptops and desktops?
I do have this issue of not being able to run Unity builds in direct mode: they always open in the main laptop screen.
Thanks
