DX11 in editor?

Has anyone managed to get DX11 projects working in editor? I have to run everything in dx9 in editor, then switch it when I build (dx11 works great for builds). I am getting a pure grey display in editor when I try to run with dx11.

Thanks for any help :D

edit: I am using a DK2

I assume by working you mean successfully displaying Rift viewports in the game view? If that is what you mean then yes my projects using DX11 work. However, I usually just build when I want to test it on the Rift.

I will note that I've experienced some weird bugs regarding which swap chain the Oculus DLL renders to. For example, try create multiple Game view windows or try popping it out and putting it back. You'll notice some "interesting" things happen.

Also, what mode do you have your Rift set to?

Yep, that is what I mean, and extended (I am pretty sure direct mode wouldn't even be possible, right?)

Whats odd is that I can display the rift in game view if I have the game view in the editor/on my main display, I only get the grey display when I tear the game view over to the rift.

My hunch is that it has something to do with the main display problem the DK2 seems to have. For instance I have to make my DK2 the main display, squint with one eye through the DK2 at the desktop to launch my build with Low persistance/direct to rift.

I've actually never tried moving the game view window to the Rift's monitor (when in extended mode).

So when you run builds you have to make the Rift your primary? When I run extended mode builds I don't have to set the Rift to the primary monitor. Are you running DX9 or DX11?
  • dx11 for builds. I can launch builds from my desktop/monitor on the rift, but LP doesn't work. For LP, I have to make the rift the main display AND launch the exe from the rift display.
  • Having a similar problem, running DX11 as well (PC / Win8 / NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 780M) .
When hitting Play, before dragging the game view tab from its original position, the scene plays in the game view.
When i drag it over to the rift display, Play only starts in the scene view on the main display, and the game view on the rift display stays still.

Question 1: Was wondering if i need to activate Play on the game view differently than with the Play button on the main display ?

I once create another game view tab in the game view window i had dragged out to the rift display, and then one of such game views actually gave me a stereoscopic view on play, but i wasn't able to move in it.
After a while unity just crashed, as it crashes on me regularly when dragging the game window out of its original position in on the main display, onto another location on the main display.

Question 2: Have you got it working in the meantime ? If yes, how, if no, what are you doing then ?

    Regards,
    Frank
