How can I add a laser/ray on the left controller, that only shows when left trigger is pressed?

I have a UI canvas with some UI buttons on. I have a teleporter with a laser on the right controller. How can I add a laserpointer /raycaster on the left controller when I press the lefthand trigger? I need the laser to interact with the buttons on the canvas. 
I havent found anything usefull so far.
