How to make your own character

I want to design and make my own character. Can I do this on Unity? or do I need to download another program?

If so, can you tell me what is the easiest program to use. I don't want to download a free Trial. I need something that's totally free like Unity

    No Sorry to say you can not make your own character in Unity .. it is a Game Engine
    its like a Stage .. you get the Items and put on to the Stage a which makes up your scene

    as Far as Characters .. you can Download 3D Studio Max 30 day trial version and start there

    Or you can Download Blender which is free..

    there are a lot of other software programs as well

    your choice on what you want to do and how far and in-depth you want to go

    You would need a 3D modeling app like 3ds Max or Maya. Both cost money, but they have Maya LT (for $30/month).

    Check out Blender for something free. Some people swear by it, I found it a little difficult to use.
