How to save and load room layouts with the quest3

How do you save multiple room layouts with name or storage location and load them in dynamically?

I have been looking all through the OVRPlugin and found no direct way of loading and storing scene models by a name or storage location.

I feels like such an important feature to not be in the SDK, so am I missing something??

seems like meta think everyone just has one place they use their device? or they are happy to rescan the room at the start of each session?

  • Curious if anyone else has figured out a solution to this problem? We're running into the same issue.

I got some more intel about this. Appearantly they don't allow that due to privacy reasons.

      Ironic, but yeah....

  • Any more info on a potential workaround? I wonder if the device is under their 'corporate plan' if there is a way to achieve this?

  • Wait, is there seriously no way to load a specific room?

So if the user created a kitchen and a bedroom scan, and they start my app in a different room from whatever Meta decides to load, there's no way I can prompt the user to say "Hey, load the other room instead, please?

    Say it ain't so.

Sadly enough that is how it works. Honestly it would be magical if I could just have different rooms scanned so I can dynamically load these in and out. But sadly that's not a thing you can do. And it does make sense as you would be able to record someone's house and all.

But they should at least make it possible for corporations. We are a company that focusses on museums, which are huge spaces and public! So it makes no sense to lock that feature away completely.

I don't see how it's introducing new privacy issues, since isn't that how scene setups and spatial anchors work anyway? The headset sees your room and recognizes it.

So if the headset thinks the user's in a different room, there's literally nothing to be done? All the work the user did setting up their anchors in that room is wasted, gone, the app is broken?

Just feels like there's no way this is the case given everything else they've implemented in the SDK. Any chance you could point me in a direction of how to ask Meta directly where it won't be ignored?

I mean, they even ask you what type of room you just scanned when you do Space Setup!
