Inconsistent performance in builds....

Currently I'm using Unity 5.0.1p1 and OVR version 0.5.0.1


When I build my scene and play it (using direct to rift exe), it randomly runs at either 34fps or 74fps...I close it and re-open and it'll run at the opposite of what it just was running.

I'm kinda leaning towards it being a Unity 5 problem because I've been having issues with lighting and performance at those 2 frame rates... I can't bake lighting in this project (crashes Unity, 1 model is very high poly). I had to use a separate directional light for the high poly model that isn't casting shadows or the FPS is 34 fps.

In quality settings I've set it to only use 1 pixel light. After that it runs at 74fps consistently, but when I close and reopen the builds I'm getting 34fps or 74fps randomly simply by closing and opening it...

  • Made a video of the problem, the first 2 times I open the EXE I get mid 30's frame rate, I close it and re-open and get mid 70's on the 3rd try....





    Ugh...
  • Can you send me a build (use PM if you don't want to make it public)?

    Also, can you try using Extended Mode?
