Integrating OculusConfig Profiles
I've searched and searched and can't seem to find this answer. What's the best way to integrate the user profiles from the Oculus Config Utility into your Unity demos? Thanks in advance guys!

- owenwpExpert ProtegeIt is done automatically. If you mean switching between profiles, that functionality is not exposed in the Unity SDK.
- MichaelSchenckHonored GuestI was thinking the same thing. At least we should be able to read the name of the running profile to be able to display it in a setup or configuration area so you know it set correctly. If many people are sharing the same computer this would be useful. It would be even better to have a simple api to switch profiles but is not as important. Is it based on login perhaps? Have not tried the Rift from different windows logins to see if the profile list is different.
- cyberealityGrand ChampionWhat is it exactly you are trying to do? I can ask one of the engineers about this.
- owenwpExpert ProtegeReally, the Unity SDK should just have full parity with the native API. There are a lot of missing helper functions.
The one I want the most is the function that tells you where the Rift display is in window coordinates. That way the editor could be made to automatically line up the play window correctly. - VRexProtegeThanks for the replies, guys. Cyberreality, I was just wondering how to take the profile you create and use the IPD and height info in your Unity demo. I didn't realize it was just done automatically. It's hard to tell without some sort of confirmation like what MichaelSchenk is saying. Do you just configure your IPD, height, save the profile, and then close it? It just automatically applies this info to any Unity demo you open?
- MichaelSchenckHonored GuestI was thinking perhaps the Unity startup dialog showing a VR Profile dropdown list that has all the profiles listed and the current one selected. This would be after the screen resolution and graphics quality settings. It could also be in game using an api if there is a non-vr mode in the game. Doubt the Unity startup dialog can be modified.
Again, maybe it doesn't really make sense if it is already stored by user login or there is no expectation that people will be trying to share a headset and need to switch this back and forth. At a minimum we should be able to get the name of the profile being used. - cyberealityGrand Champion@owenwp: Yes, I agree the the C++ SDK and Unity SDK should match. I don't know if there is any technical reason why this is not the case. I'll see what I can find out.
- spyroExpert ProtegeHmm, no Demo I've testet so far seems to use my profile anyway. If I start them I got a default 64 mm IPD everywhere (which is wrong).
- cyberealityGrand ChampionCan you try creating a new profile with the latest Config Tool?
- moltonExplorerIt does seem like if IPD is so important we need a user friendly way to handle setting and changing IPD settings. I ususally don't mess with them while showing different people things because people don't have the patience to load up some other program to check settings. We need a Wii like mii system that saves users settings and lets you easily switch between profiles, being able to set a profile from within the program would be great too. Possibly from some kind of Oculus rift launcher menu. Hire me I'll make that, sounds easy but I got enough unpaid work for 3 lifetimes right now.
