Is this possible for the Oculus Integration to detect a wall or a plane ??

Version Info.

Unity Editor 2021.3.20f1,
Oculus Integration Version 50.0


now with latest version of Oculus Integration Version, Is this possible for the oculus integration to provide with API for wall or plane detection? which means wall or plane can be classified and segmented by themselves??

 

After My boss participating Unity Korea Seminar, then told me to look into if it is possible or not.

I told him back immediately It is not possible until the wall needs to be specified or drawn by a User or a Gamer.
I have no idea at the moment whether she misunderstood or be miunderstood.

  • The answer, as of this moment is "No" - the Oculus Integration SDK cannot automatically detect planes or walls from the wearer's environment, the data returned from the cameras is not detailed enough for that. However, this Wednesday, Meta is expected to announce the release of the Quest 3, which includes a depth sensor that was not present in their previous headsets that should be capable of that. It would be surprising to me if they didn't add that functionality to the SDK in the near future for users with the Quest 3 hardware.
