Maxing the Framerate
I've been running the Tuscany demo on several machines and I haven't been able to get the frame rate over 65 fps. Is there a limit set somewhere in Unity?
I know that the screen refresh rate is only 60hz, so it probably doesn't matter, but I'd like to see it hovering around 100+ rather than 60 because it occasionally drops to 59, which is 30 with v-sync and that breaks the experience.
What is the best hardware for getting the highest framerate? Does CPU matter more than GPU? From what I've read, it seems that Unity is not capable of taking advantage of multiple processor cores, so a fast dual or quad core processor might be better than an 8-core.

- cyberealityGrand ChampionThe Tuscany demo should be v-synced by default. So you should be seeing close to 60 FPS on most machines. I know the FPS could fluctuate a little but 65 FPS seems strange to me. Anyway, I have a pretty beefy machine here (GTX 680) and I'm only getting 60 FPS.
- MikeFestaExplorerThanks for the reply cyber. Maybe it was only up to 63, but it was definitely hovering around 60 (+/- 3), so v-sync makes sense. How accurate is the frame rate that is being reported? What is it based on?
- cyberealityGrand ChampionI think the FPS meter is the default one from Unity. Nothing fancy.
