Oculus Link does not work in Unity Editor with Oculus Integration 17

It works with Oculus Integration 15. I'm not sure if it's an issue specifically with Link, as I don't have a Rift on hand to test it out.
Either way, with integration version 15 I can run VR directly from the Unity Editor to the Quest via Link, but with version 17 I can't. I've tried this with several Unity versions, both 2018 and 2019, same situation in all of them.

Is there some step I'm missing, or is this a bug?

  • This works for me:
    1. disable link in the headset
    2. put away you controllers and enable link with hand interaction
    3. hit play in unity editor
i need to do this everytime i play the scene

But then what if you're testing with controllers?  Can you pick them up during Preview?  I'm getting frequent crashes of the unity editor which leaves the headset in link in a black screen with guardian.  And then Oculus Desktop app reports my system doesn't meet requirements (it does) and then I have to reboot my system and my headset to get link to work again.  It works fine playing Half Life:Alyx but it's crashing the Unity Editor all the time now.  On Unity 2019.3.15 and v17 headset PTC/Beta,  latest NVidia drivers.  Made sure NVidia Highperformance not IntelIngrated is set for all Oculus and Unity apps.  I have no idea what's causing my issues - but it too may be related to the v17 update.  I'm using the Anker cable - but ordered the oculus one just in case.
