Preventing HMD disconnects
Frequent, unexplained HMD disconnects seems to be a common problem with a wide range of potential causes (software updates, driver updates, USB power settings, loose cables, faulty hardware, etc.).
I'm posting to the Unity subforum since it feels like there may be combinations of Oculus Home and Unity that are more or less stable. Is there anyplace that documents good and bad combinations, because I've clearly found a bad one. I'm on Unity 2017 and Windows 10, and my current iteration loop is:
I'm posting to the Unity subforum since it feels like there may be combinations of Oculus Home and Unity that are more or less stable. Is there anyplace that documents good and bad combinations, because I've clearly found a bad one. I'm on Unity 2017 and Windows 10, and my current iteration loop is:
- Make a change in Unity
- Make sure Oculus Home is up and running
- Put on the headset and wait for Oculus Home to finish loading
- Press Play from the Unity editor
- Pray that I don't get a random HMD disconnect hardware notification
- Play until I get one, which then crashes Unity
- Reboot Unity and reboot Oculus Home
- repeat
- When I pick up the headset
- When I take off the headset before stopping the Unity editor
- When I stop the editor and then put down the headset
- When I adjust the headset while playing
- When I'm just standing there doing nothing
- The 3rd time I try the exact same pattern that did NOT end in a disconnect on attempt 1 and 2
