Seeing double

Ok, I am a new guy to Oculus and Unity.

I have a room scene set up in Unity. When I run the test build, it seems the left and right cameras of the OVRCameraController are not aligned and I am seeing double on all the objects in the room. Like the offset of each camera lens is off. What settings should I be messing with to align them?

Thanks!

  • Is your screen at the right resolution and is the game view full screen?

Yes, full-screen, and I am running it at 1280x800 off a Macbook Pro.
  • Hmm have tried any other demos to make sure it's the cameras in your game and not a configuration issue with the Oculus?

As dropping in the OVRCameraController into a scene has always worked for me :/

Yes I am sure it's an issue I've somehow created, but I just dropped in the camera to my scene and get the offset.

I am sure of it because the Tuscany demo looks fine. I may check the settings on the camera in Tuscany and compare.

I just wondered now that I have the issue, is there a setting on the cameras to align them better.
  • Alright great, just wanted to make sure the problem had been isolated to that.

I haven't run across the problem before though... my first guess would be to check the IPD setting, by default it's 0.064 I believe, but perhaps your pupils are farther/closer than that.

Thanks for all your help DarkJames. I figured it out with your help on the resolution settings.

Rookie mistake. My laptop res is 1440x900, so at fullscreen mode it was just stretching it to that even though I chose 1280x800. Once I switched it to 1280x800, problem solved.

    Anyway, it's looking great now!
  • Ah yeah that would do it! It's always a little strange having two monitors like that.

Glad to help and have fun rifting! :)
  • Well , i had some issue with my mac pro retina. So now i understand cause when i put 1280x800 i see double but when i un the demos at 1440 it works, so its just a matter of having the 2 displays at the same resolution i guess. On the pc it just worksm i never had this issue.Looks like the mac implementation is worse is some ways.
