Simple joystick controller to recommend ?

Hey guys,

I did not find existing topics covering this so here it is:

I am looking for a simple joystick controller with a 2-directionnal stick and maybe one or 2 buttons. Similar to the Wii Nuntchuk. It would connect in USB and be recognised in Unity as a joystick.

What device would you recommend ? Can you share your experience in using this with the Rift (to move your player around) ?
I am not interested in complex gaming controllers, just something as simple as possible...

Thank you !

I bought one recently and was basically looking for the same thing. I ended up getting some Logitec stick that was in stock at Best Buy for like 30$ or something.

Sticks are pretty cheap these days.
  • Hey Lane, could you give some model number ?

I am in Europe (Belgium), and I did not see any product like this on the eu logitech website... any other brands ?
  • You can have a Wiimote emulate the keyboard/mouse using something like GlovePIE.
  • I am actually looking for something more like what Fredz posted. It should fit in the hand.

I did some browsing but I can't find any stick that imitates the Wii Nuntchuk but in standard USB...

Cyberreality: I'll have a look to the GlovePie...
  • Fredz,

I just ordered a PS move nav controller.
Can you maybe give some hints on the settings in Unity ? Never tried MotionInJoy before.
Would the stick we recognized as a joystick controller and mapped to axis in Unity ? or just mapped to arrow keys or keyboard strokes ?

@Cyberreality: is it the same with Wiimote and Glove Pie ?
  • Actually I'd recommend the Navigator over the Wiimote. It has more buttons and the software seems more reliable.

Sorry but I've never used Unity nor MotionInJoy.
