Simply not working
So I just got the Oculus Rift DK2 and now I want to try and make my own game with it. I looked up tutorials, the documentation and everything else possible but it is not working. The demo is working but barley. It sometimes works and sometimes blow up in my face. I also just made a scene, inserted a plane and then added the oculus player prefab. And guess what? It is not working. What can I do to make it work?
Thanks
Thanks

- cyberealityGrand ChampionI'd like to help, but I'm not sure I understand what the problem is.
First off, can you list you OS and system specs?
Then can you let me know if you get any error messages (either in the Unity console or in the Windows event log).
What do you mean by "blow up"? Can you take a photo of the problem? - RedmannHonored Guest

I am using a Windows 8.1 and my specs are Intel Core i5-3350 CPU. I think that is it. I am not good at these type of things. But now when I have calmed down, here is what is happening.
I made a scene. I put a simple plane into the scene. Then I dragged the Oculus Player Controller into the scene. When I press play, Unity appear to have frozen. I can't press any buttons except the Play/Pause. I fix this by restarting Unity. It works 1 time then I got to restart it again. When I build it I just get it as a pasted GUI on the Oculus. There is nothing going on. I followed a tutorial that was doing this and it worked for them.
And by "blow up" I mean either that Unity crashed for unknown reasons or it "fake freezes" as I told you about before. Sorry for not explaining very well before. I was kinda fed up. - cyberealityGrand ChampionOK, what GPU/video card are you using?
Can you check in the Windows event log for Oculus related errors? - RedmannHonored Guest

I'll be honest, I have no idea where to check any of these. Can you please tell me where I can check these? - cyberealityGrand ChampionGo to the start menu and type "dxdiag" and click the exe file that pops up.
Then hit "Save all information" and save the file to somewhere you remember.
Then upload the file to this forum. Thanks.
For the events, you need to open the "Event Viewer". Just type "'Event Viewer" into the start menu.
Then go to "Windows Logs" -> "Applications" and look for Oculus stuff. - MarbasHonored GuestTry building your app instead of running it inside the editor.

I already have. But I have now discovered it is something with the Oculus. It is not working on any games now."cybereality" wrote:

I got the specs I think.
When I go the Applications in the Windows log, I find several logs with Oculus that are either an Error or a Warning. Can I do anything about it? Also, as I said to Marbas, I found out that the problem is the Oculus. It is not working for any games.
EDIT: I could not upload the system specs because it just told me it was an invalid URL. I I'll just post it as a link.

EDIT 2: I got it working somehow. I restarted my computer, switched screens back and fourth and now it works. Thanks anyway for all the support! - EddieJamesExplorerWhen things stop working you can also open the oculus config utility and restart the oculus service. I've had to do that on DCS to be able to lean in "z" while in the cockpit.
